About us

James White originally moved into Hutton Cranswick from Derbyshire in 1988 when his father Tony bought the existing butchery business in the village.

Since being a school boy, James always had a passion for being a butcher and used helped his father in the shop after school and at weekends and it was only a matter of time before James was to take over the family business. He did this in 2001 and re-branded the business under his own name as James White Butchers.

Since then James has developed his own style of butchery and has created an enviable reputation for supplying meat of the highest quality to a wide range of varying private customers as well as pubs, restaurants and hotels within the East Yorkshire region.

Customers are the life-blood of any business and James has always provided an excellent service and attention to detail where quality meats and customer care is of paramount importance to his business success.

A natural progression occured in 2011 when James added Hog Roasts to his range of services and, as expected, this side of the business is really increasing year on year.

The pigs are slaughtered on the premises and this gives full traceability and more importantly, the assurance that the meat is of the highest quality and flavour.

James and his wife Ria now have two sons of their own and both Kyran and Harvey already help out in the shop and it is purely only a matter of time until they become regular butchers in the White’s family business too.
